The Letaw Family Foundation

The Letaw Family Foundation was founded in 2006 by longtime Maryland residents, Joyce and Harry Letaw. Life experiences growing up in the Great Depression, serving in the military, traveling the world, and raising eight children taught them not only the hardships of poverty and inequality, but also the way an individual and community can thrive with the right resources and support. It was with that potential in mind that they began seeking out opportunities to give back, ultimately creating the Letaw Family Foundation as a vehicle through which to make an impact.

For over a decade, Joyce and Harry Letaw led the Letaw Family Foundation together with support from the Foundation’s Board of Directors, which is comprised only of family and spans three generations. After Harry’s passing in 2020, Joyce was appointed President of the Foundation and continues to be very involved in selecting and awarding grants.
